Amazon just added podcast generation to Alexa Plus, its upgraded AI assistant. Give it a topic and it'll create a full episode with AI-generated hosts discussing whatever you want.
Before it starts generating, Alexa Plus shows you what the AI hosts plan to cover. You can adjust the conversation direction and set how long you want the episode to be. Amazon's examples include two AI hosts chatting about Roman Empire history, new music releases, and World Cup predictions.
You can also request educational content. Amazon says Alexa Plus can generate audio lessons on topics like the Apollo missions.
This puts Amazon in direct competition with Google's NotebookLM, which popularized AI-generated podcast summaries last year. The difference is Alexa Plus lets you create podcasts on any topic from scratch, not just summaries of documents you upload.
