UK banks blocked from cyber AI tool Mythos get offer from rival OpenAI

OpenAI just made a move in the enterprise security space, offering nine UK banks access to something called GPT 5.5 Cyber. This comes right after Anthropic blocked those same banks from getting preview access to its own cybersecurity tool, Mythos.

The timing here is notable. We don't often see AI companies this directly competing for the same enterprise customers, especially in something as sensitive as banking cybersecurity.

For context, both companies have been pushing hard into specialized AI tools beyond their general chatbots. Cybersecurity is a natural fit since these models can analyze threats, detect patterns, and respond faster than traditional systems.
