Deezer launches an AI music detector for other streaming services
By the AIdeaFlow Team
Deezer is taking its fight against unlabeled synthetic music beyond its own app. The streaming service just launched a tool that lets you scan your playlists on rival platforms to see which songs are actually AI-generated.
This move comes after Deezer tried to get other big players to adopt its detection technology. Since nobody else stepped up, they decided to release it directly to the public so everyone can audit their own libraries.
While Qobuz has developed its own detection system, industry leaders like Apple and Spotify are currently using voluntary tagging. That leaves plenty of room for unlabeled synthetic tracks to slip through the cracks and land in your rotation.
CEO Alexis Lanternier mentioned that no other company has followed their lead yet. He wants to make it possible for everyone to identify synthetic music, regardless of which streaming service they prefer to use.
This matters to you because the line between human and machine creativity is blurring quickly. For professionals using AI in their own workflows, seeing how major platforms flag and filter synthetic media provides a roadmap for future content standards.
We are seeing a growing divide in how tech companies handle the influx of AI content. Some are pushing for total transparency through active detection tools, while others are hoping that creators will simply be honest about the tools they use.
